The
study of European History since 1450 introduces
students to cultural, economic, political and social
developments that played a fundamental role in shaping
the world in which they live. The goals of the AP
European History program are to develop an understanding
of some of the principal themes in modern European
history, an ability to analyze historical evidence
and historical interpretation, and an ability to
express historical understanding in writing. Students
enrolled in a course designated as Advanced Placement
are expected to take the exam. It is the expectation
that all students enrolled in European History AP
will take the A.P. Exam.
A
project is required for each term. The Term One
project is introductory. The project is intended
to familiarize students with the political, social,
economic and artistic aspects of Renaissance Italy
and provide background information to enrich understanding
of the course. It is available to students in June
so they have the option of completing it during
the summer. See Term
One Project for more information about the project
and due dates.
The required project in term two is a culminating
project. Preparing for and taking the European History
AP Exam satisfies this project. Any student who
opts NOT to take the exam will complete a project
similar the term one. With teacher approval, two
books that pertain to term two topics will be read
and analyzed. A written analysis will be submitted
to the teacher by the end of the second week of
May.
